Buy Dog Beds

We all love our dogs. Dog beds have become such an important part of our furry friend’s life that it is important to keep a few things in mind when you head out to buy a dog bed:

1. Take into consideration the size of your dog as well as their overall health and needs. Perhaps you have an arthritic dog who would benefit from a heated dog bed. Maybe your dog sheds a lot so you need a bed that is easy to clean. Whatever the case there is a dog bed out there for you.
2. Check to see if the cover of the bed is removable and washable. I can personally attest to the importance of this. We want to be able to wash the cover on our dog bed just like we wash our own sheets and blankets.
3. Not all dog beds are filled with the same materials. Some are filled with cotton fiber fill. Other, more high end beds, are filled with cedar. Cedar will actually help the bed repel fleas. This is especially important if you have a dog who loves going out in the yard/woods. Ask your sales person what the bed is filled with and if it can be easily changed.
4. Match the dog bed to the room you are going to be keeping it in. Remember, there is no reason why a dog bed shouldn’t match your decor. Take note of the colors and textures in the room, and if need be find a neutral dog bed that will go with anything.
5. Make sure the dog bed is the right size for your dog. There is nothing more uncomfortable for a dog than when he or she simply doesn’t fit on the bed. Buying a dog bed in the correct size will help make sure your dog will actually use the bed rather than your furniture!
6. Lastly, keep your budget in mind. This is especially important if you have a new puppy. You want to make sure your dog will actually enjoy sleeping on a bed.

By keeping this small list of “rules” in mind when heading out to buy a dog bed you can be assured that the bed will be right for both you and your best friend.
