It’s important to know what sort of behaviour is normal for your cat; after all they’re as individual as people. since cats can’t tell you if something is wrong, any change in their behaviour could be a sign that they’re unwell. a cat becoming less sociable than normal or otherwise behaving out of character is a good indicator that something is wrong. look out, too, for changes in their eating habits; are they refusing to eat or eating significantly less than normal? Very few cat owners are actually aware that tooth decay can lead to disease of the heart, liver and kidney in their pets. To be sure your cat sees a vet before any such problems become serious, it’s vital to check your cat’s mouth weekly for tooth decay, excessive salivation and bleeding gums. Problems eating are also very often caused by dental pain. In addition to weekly teeth checks at home, a vet should inspect your cat’s mouth at least once a year.
Finally, regular grooming of your cat is important. It will improve your relationship with your pet at the same time as allowing you to check for any hair loss, lumps or rashes, as well as giving you the opportunity to ensure your cat is free from fleas and ticks.
